Cancun Shootout: I wish I was there...

(Courtesy of ballslist.com top 10 Spring Break locations)
After the defensive struggles against Miami (OH) and Sam Houston State, we all knew it was going to take some time for this young team to mature. Surely, a trip to a Spring Break hot spot like Cancun couldn't be a good place for a group of 18 year old college freshman to mature, could it? The sunny skies and clear beaches didn't seem to distract the young Cats from taking care of business tonight. We all thought it would take longer than 3 games, but the Cats are already playing with the maturity that we had hoped they would have by December. The first half was a decent performance, but 14 turnovers kept the game fairly competitive for the first 20 minutes. The 2nd half was much more impressive with only 4 turnovers as a balanced Kentucky scoring attack pulled away over a dangerous Cleveland State team just as a veteran team would. Tomorrow night the Cats hit the court again at 9:30 against the winner of tonight's Stanford vs. Virginia semifinal in the Cancun Shootout. It's funny how quiet my phone has been since that Miami game. The haters are finally starting to come to grip with reality that the hype of this team is real and Kentucky looks as good as their ranking indicates. I do, however, hope for a closer game tomorrow night against a quality BCS conference opponent. Honestly, that Miami game was kinda fun. I'd like to see just a couple more of those as long as the Cats prevail.
